In the Pink

Saturday I participated in a quick show, to raise funds for breast cancer research. Sponsored by local merchants, a bunch of ladies gathered in the century-old library for a boutique warehouse sale - meaning most product was offered at a deep discount. This sale came JUST in time for me to clear out a bunch of merchandise left over from our French Flea Market theme....and not have to move it to the new place! YAY!

We had two hours Saturday morning to set up - it was fast & frantic hauling stuff up stairs and making it all fit into an 8' X 5' space, let me tell you! (Need I remind you that I subscribe to my friend Sue Kirby's philosophy of 'Why do when you can OVERdo?"!!!) But it was fun - great music on, laughter, camraderie, and sunshine pouring in the windows made for a great start to a wonderful day.

I made some special Pink Pumpkins to sell in honor of our theme. You can see more photos of our booth setup and products on our retreat blog .
The customers came in a steady stream all day, shopping & browsing and visiting. We didn't sell out, but we did move some of the merchandise! What was left got hauled up to our new place and put into storage today.

So Saturday looked like this: Dress in pink and start running. Two hour setup, four hour show, one hour load out. Made a few hundred bucks, donated a percentage to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, supported our local business community & economy, and had less stuff to move to our new house. Plus, got to hang with some girlfriends who all have their hearts in the right places. All in all, not a bad day at all!

Poor Mr. Deb's day, on the other hand, looked like this:
Get up early, help Deb schlep stuff up a flight of stairs into the library, then go home and start loading the garage & shop into our trailer for the move. Take lunch to Deb, go back home to keep loading. Go pick up Deb and schlep stuff down flight of stairs and back into car. Carry two chairs and two suitcases down the street to Faded Elegance (because they wouldn't fit back into my car!). The man is a SAINT!

During the event, we ladies talked about next year's fall sale, AND the possibility of revising this event in Spring as a Mother's Day thing. Two chances to raise funds & awareness for a disease that affects far too many women. No matter how busy I am, I'll be there.

Your booth looks beautiful as do you! And moving to boot! How do you do it all? Do you sleep dear Deb? And sorry you missed the shower. Hope your mouth is feeling better soon. :) Angie
