gratitude journal . week #14
this week i am grateful for the opportunity to work as a writer.
it has always been a part of my life, since childhood when i started our elementary school newspaper,
but to be paid to do something i love is such a joy.
the best thing about writing for retail industry publications and lifestyle magazines,
is that i meet the most wonderful people...
store owners, artisans, dealers, show promoters, and more
who truly deserve the spotlight.
this past week i met peggy & don, who own down home american country antiques in orange, california
and was completely enchanted with them and their store...
i photographed the store in all of its glory at their fall open house event,
met some of their remarkable dealers and customers,
and am looking forward to sharing their story in the Holiday2012 issue of FOLK Magazine.
[these two photos show peggy's amazing displays at down home american country antiques]
i am also grateful for the fact that I can stop in the middle of a busy day
and take a moment to hear the church bells ring
to listen to the whispers of my soul
to bow my head in prayer
to sit in quiet and know that i am in the presence of the Almighty
He gives rest to my soul and restores my Spirit in so many ways...
like when the phone rings and it's two boys i dearly love wanting to talk to me
and i hear the sweet small voice of a precious child say 'i love you'
my heart jumps with joy and my eyes spring with tears of gratitude
i am grateful that God heals.
no matter how DEEP the pain is, no matter how scarred and scabbed over our hearts are,
no matter how much blood we lost in the battle...
God reaches down and heals it.
sometimes we have to wait a long time
but we can rest and know that He is working
and that one day
