I Am Thankful For...

 November Thankfulness posts continued...

Day 19

I am Thankful for Prayer...
I am Thankful for friends who know that when they call or text or email or message me,
and say 'Please Pray!' that I WILL. And I do.
Knowing that my voice and my heart are joining with theirs to intervene on their behalf
and ask God to provide them with whatever it is they need right then...
that's a darned good reason to stop whatever I am doing and bow my head.

I am Thankful that when I call or text or email or message those friends,
and ask 'Please Pray!' that they DO.
Knowing that they are lifting up my concern to our Heavenly Father gives me comfort.

We pray because we believe in a BIG GOD
with LIMITLESS power, patience, love, grace, abundance, healing, and forgiveness.
We pray because we know it changes hearts, it changes souls, and it often changes circumstances.
We pray because we know that miracles DO happen. Every day.

Our prayers may not be answered exactly the way we want them to be answered -
but they are ALWAYS answered. Always.

We've all heard the words 'I'll pray for you - it's the least I can do".
No.... it's the MOST you can do!

For all who pray - however and wherever they do - I am Thankful.

I posted this same photo last November 22,
after spending an entire afternoon and sleepless night on my knees in prayer,
begging God for a miracle.

I didn't get the answer I wanted.... I got the answer I feared and dreaded most.
I still don't know why it happened that way -
but I don't doubt the power of prayer. Or the power of God.

Day 20

I am thankful for Alexander Graham Bell, and Steve Jobs.
Because I am thankful for my iPhone.

Thankful that it enables me to hear the voices that are most special to me.

Thankful that it carries a laugh, a cry, a joke, a memory, a story, or a prayer
across the miles to connect me to the people I care most about.
Thankful that in a split second, 'I Love You' can be spoken and heard,
'I'm sorry' can be offered and accepted,
and 'I'm here for you' can be given and received.

Thankful when there is baby babble and childlike wonder on the other end of the line,
saying anything at all and sounding like music to my ears.
Thankful when I hear joy and contentment and pride in the voice telling me about
a life well-lived, a goal attained, a problem solved, a challenge overcome, and a lesson learned.

For all this, I am Thankful

even though I get frustrated with the sporadic service of the Verizon network here in SoCal
(I swear I had better reception on a little bitty island in Puget Sound!),
and I may need to sit IN the window at the front of the house in order to not have the call drop.

Because I can still make a call or answer one and hear the words, 'Hi Mom!'
(or, alternatively, 'Duuuuuuude!', which seems to be the standard Kennedy family greeting )
and my heart sings.
photo from luxecase.com - mine's just like it, only in white ;)
