gratitude journal . week 2

8 monday . giggling girls
my niece and her bestie reminded me of the sweetness of childhood friendships
9 tuesday . s'mores
loving the simple joy of making these with my nieces this week
10 wednesday . history
my mom pulled this from her rolltop desk and handed it to me with a smile.
this ashtray sat in my grandparents' home for my entire childhood. my grandpa purchased it shortly after Disneyland opened - after he had helped to build 'Its a Small World' in the Park. The memories attached to such a simple piece of ceramic glass make me smile...
11 thursday . refreshed
a taste from my childhood: Lime Jello salad, one of Mom's classics.
my first bite of this made me close my eyes and remember hot summer days in Redding, 40 years ago.
12 friday . the scent of summer
fresh-cut grass and the buzz of lawnmowers like giant bees across the neighborhood
13 saturday . bloom
this plant in the backyard regularly dries out, loses its leaves, and looks for all the world like it has died. and then new leaves and these bold flowers miraculously appear...
14 sunday . hymnns
every morning, birds lift their voices in praise - their trilling scales, lofty notes, and beautiful melodies & harmonies fill the air. i imagine the sounds of nature combine as they lift into the air, combining into a giant symphony of joy...

Wishing you many sweet moments of peace this summer, Deb.
See the lime jello salad made my mouth water. A summer classic! I'm going to have to pick up a package when I go to the market. :)
I'm following you through your gratitude journal.
Read the book and loved it.
